Students produce music videos featuring their own original lyrics and music. Before and during the field trip students collaborate in groups to decide on a concept, create original lyrics, digitally compose their own music, coordinate dance routines, and perform the final product.
This field trip can be used as a platform to enhance classroom curriculum. For example, students' productions can be based on a story or play, represent a scene from history, illustrate a scientific discovery, explore spoken-word poetry, or convey a concept or idea. The result is a fusion between art and technology that introduces students to the production process while nurturing their creative confidence.

In a Creative Combo, students engage with two of CCM’s most popular exhibit spaces – the Animation Studio, Music Studio, Tech Lab or Innovation Lab. Students are encouraged to explore their creative process while learning some combination of stop-motion blob animation skills, music video production, how to prototype and collaboratively solve a design challenge, or how to program robots.

In this two-hour field trip, students work collaboratively to build creative solutions to a unique design challenge. Using a "mystery box" of materials such as bubble wrap, styrofoam, pipe cleaners, etc students are challenged to think outside the box to build unique prototype out of their imaginations. With the help of museum educators students learn brainstorming techniques, the fundamentals of prototyping, and engage in creative problem-solving. After building their prototype, groups present their solution to the class.
The Innovation Challenge can be an excellent platform for enhancing classroom curriculum. If you are interested in customized design challenges that align with your lesson plans, please let us know at least two weeks in advance.

In this project-based field trip, students are introduced to the basics of stop-motion animation. After designing unique clay characters, students collaborate in groups to produce a short animated film using multimedia tools.
Students develop a story concept together, sculpt clay characters, and film an original stop-motion animation movie. Clay Animation can be adapted to almost any classroom curriculum and provides a wonderful learning platform for exploring a wide range of topics. For example, students can animate a scene from a play or novel, represent a scene from history, or illustrate a scientific discovery. This engaging field trip cultivates creative expression, communication, and teamwork skills, resulting in unique clay animation movies that students can take home and share.

In this two-hour field trip students are introduced to computer programming using Blockly, a drag-and-drop visual programming tool, and robots from Wonder Workshop. Students collaborate in small groups to complete coding challenges while creating and navigating their own maze. More experienced coders can program robots to respond to sensor inputs and use loops to avoid obstacles. Multiple programming concepts are taught through fun and easy-to-understand activities, giving students creative ways to explore robot coding.

They work together to develop a story concept, sculpt clay characters, film a stop-motion animation movie, ad then add sound effects. In the first half of this experience students design their own clay characters before working in small groups to produce a short animated film. In the second half, students learn post-production techniques by adding sound effects to their movies.
Clay Animation with Sound Effects can be adapted to almost any classroom curriculum and provides a wonderful learning platform for exploring a wide range of topics.
