Create meaningful art through collaboration

There is infinite diversity in the ways that people express ideas, create content, and explore themes in their lives. At the ArtLab, a station within the Art & Design Intertwined exhibition, kids and their adults take a seat and pull up an easel to create artwork together and explore all kinds of artistic expression – at the end, you’ll see what others have created!

ArtLab inspires you through:

  • Still Life Station: Based on a shared theme or prompt, visitors will experiment with painting objects while considering concepts, lights, shapes, and shadows. At the end, you’ll see what others have created and reflect on the emotions depicted within the art.

  • Mural Station:  Relax and unwind by contributing to a large-scale collaborative mural with a revolving variety of prompts, using materials such as tissue paper, paint, oil pastels, and more. As you explore the museum and find your way back, see how that mural has evolved with the addition of new artwork.

  • Messy Art Station: Get wild (with color!) and paint on the surfaces around you: statues, frames, walls, and much more.
