Learn the basics of stop-motion animation!

In our Animation Studio, kids (and adults) have a blast creating stories and bringing them to life on screen with LEGO & DUPLO bricks and minifigures.  All the materials needed to create an original animated film are provided, the only thing you need to bring is your imagination! Build your set, plan your movements, and.... ACTION!

Stop-motion animation is the basis of some of our favorite movies, including Coraline and Nightmare Before Christmas. The process involves building models of the characters and of the background. Then you take a picture. Then you move the model just a little bit, move your hands out of the way, and take another picture. Then you do that over and over again to create the illusion of the model moving by itself. It can take weeks to make the movement look effortless.      

When working in the Animation Studio we provide some short cuts- painted backgrounds and mini-figs- but the process is the same. You can spend as long as you want to create your short movie. And our staff are there to  answer questions and offer support. The finished project can be saved and emailed. Share it with your family, friends, and perhaps even the Oscar committee!
