Your field trip visit includes the 1-2 hour field trip program (time dependent on which program you booked) and carousel tickets for each child and chaperone. Note: Clay Animation with Sound is 4.25 hrs.
The field trip does NOT include admittance to the rest of the museum.
- Using our teacher guides found in the links above, have your students prepare for the field trip ahead of your visit.
- Teachers can adjust field trip preparations to meet the needs of their class. This can include activities, completing handouts, or simply introducing vocabulary relevant to the topics discussed in your field trip.
- If you have booked a Clay Animation field trip, please organize your students into groups of 3-5 students each with no more than 6 groups total.
Please find and review the teacher guide that matches the field trip you booked. Each teacher guide includes information on the field trip programming as well as pre- and post-field trip materials.
CHECK IN
- Once you arrive at the Museum, please have your students sit on the courtyard steps across from the museum entrance with their chaperones while you check in at the front desk. Educators will then come outside to meet your class and start your field trip.
- As you check in at the front desk, you will be able to pay any remaining balance or receive a refund of your deposit (when applicable). In addition, you will be asked a final attendance count and receive your carousel tickets.
CHECK OUT
- Once your field trip concludes, Educators will lead your class back out to the courtyard steps and return any belongings such as backpacks and lunches that were stored at the front desk during the field trip.
- The courtyard in front of our museum provides a wonderfully spacious and enclosed place to eat a snack or lunch before or after your field trip. The courtyard includes cement steps right near the entrance of the museum, as well as large plots of lawn and an accessible playground.
- In the case of inclement weather, we do offer an indoor space for classes to eat snack and lunch.
- If you are traveling by BART or MUNI, the closest stop to the museum is Powell Street. Please refer to the map below for walking directions.
- If you are traveling by school bus, the best bus drop off is on the corner of Fourth Street and Folsom Street. Please note that these routes require climbing stairs. An elevator is available from Folsom St.
- If you and chaperones are driving to the museum, there are many accessible and nearby parking lots. Please refer to the map below for locations. The museum unfortunately does not have the ability to validate parking.
