DESCRIPTION

Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and enjoy FREE activities for all ages outside of the museum from 11:00am-3:00pm.

Peace Quilt: Design a square for our collaborative peace quilt! Describe what peace means to you by using your five senses; What does peace look like? sound like? smell like?  taste like? feel like?

DIY Chalk Mural: Create beautiful artwork in the museum courtyard using chalk to commemorate the life of Dr. MLK, Jr.!

Bay Area Unity Bridges: We need your help constructing San Francisco’s newest symbol of unity: The Bay Area Unity Bridges! Everyone is invited to create and decorate an art piece that represents themselves, a family or community member they admire or even a plant or animal they feel represents unity! All creations will be linked together creating bridge cables that connect the Bay Area Unity Bridges!

MLK Bio: Learn more about MLK at the MoAD booth where an “I Have A Dream” speech and poster of MLK will be displayed.

Scratch Board: MoAD educators will help you create your own scratch board! Color your board with bright colors and then cover it with a black crayon as you think about what your dreams are for a better world! Think about the contributions you can make to your community or family. Then write your dream and scratch out to reveal the beauty of your dream with bamboo sticks!

This event is made possible in part by the generous contribution and support of the Yerba Buena Community Benefit District.
