EDUCATOR

Reports to: Education Manager
Status:  Full-time, non-exempt, at-will, temporary (May 17th - September 2nd)
Desired Start Date: May 17, 2018
Schedule: Thursday-Sunday, 9am-5pm
Compensation: $18/hr, 30 hours/week

Organizational Description:
The Children’s Creativity Museum is a hands-on, multimedia arts and technology experience designed to build creative confidence. Our mission is to nurture creativity and collaboration in children and families. We believe that creative expression, innovation and critical thinking are core to fostering the next generation.

Position Description:
The Educator works with the Education Manager, Assistant Education Manager, CCM Educators, Education Interns and Volunteers to facilitate programming and serve the general admission visitors.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate exhibits spaces during General Admission hours
  • Assist in summer camp programming
  • Setup and cleanup of exhibit spaces according to CCM procedures
  • Lead structured activities for groups of 10 to 40 3rd-11th grade students for 2-hour workshops in clay animation and preschool-2nd grade 1-hour workshops in water-based activities
  • Assist with special events/workshops
  • Create take away materials for group workshops and archive clay animation movies daily
  • Identify and report broken exhibits and supplies status
  • Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, arts, or electronic media preferred
  • Experience teaching or working with youth in formal or informal education, visual, media, or performing arts
  • Ability to teach a variety of ages in a non-classroom setting
  • Ability to learn new software programs and communicate their uses to students and teachers
  • Able to interact with and manage large groups Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong Interest in working with children
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Interest in new technologies in the arts
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong computer skills, working knowledge of MAC operating systems and creative software knowledge desirable
  • Conversational knowledge of Spanish or Asian languages desirable
  • Candidate must be able to interact in relevant ways with persons from diverse backgrounds and/or with different learning styles

MARKETING ASSOCIATE

Reports to: Director of External Affairs
Status:  Full-time (30+ hours), regular, non-exempt, benefited, hourly and at-will
Schedule: Flexible, including weekends & holidays

Organizational Description:

The Children’s Creativity Museum is a hands-on arts and technology experience for kids.  Our mission is to nurture creativity and collaboration in all children and families.  We believe creative expression, innovation, and critical thinking are core to fostering the next generation.

Our museum is located in the heart of San Francisco with a target audience of families with children aged 2 – 12.  Last year we served over 100,000 visitors to the museum, the Creativity Theater and through schools and camps.

Position Description:

We are seeking a tech-savvy idealist who will support all aspects of marketing with an emphasis on digital marketing and community engagement. This is a growth opportunity for someone interested in marketing and business practices related to a non-profit museum.  We are looking for someone who embraces our philosophy to be creative and collaborative in their work and human interactions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with all departments to create compelling content, based on our stories and brand, for multiple social media channels
  • Draft and manage email campaigns: monthly newsletter and targeted email campaigns
  • Maintain website copy: programs, calendar, images etc.
  • Analyze effectiveness of current marketing initiatives to inform and improve future campaigns
  • Monitor social media, Google AdWords and Google Analytics
  • Represent museum at off-site programs and events; e.g. Shared Schoolyard, Kids to Work Days, fairs and festivals.
  • Interface with tourist serving venues; e.g. visit hotels and cultivate concierge referrals.
  • Conduct outreach to schools and student-serving organizations regarding field trips, group visits, and other programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Tech savvy: familiar with general marketing platforms and current trends
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google AdWords and WordPress
  • Writing and/or graphic skills
  • Curious about all aspects of the museum and is not shy to approach team members across departments
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong PC skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications, and desire and ability to learn new software
  • Schedule flexibility including hours and weekend days. Weekend days between 2-4 per month
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness
  • Confidentiality
  • Experience and/or degree in marketing, communications or related field
  • Valid Driver’s License

Bonus Qualifications

  • Graphic design experience using Adobe Suite
  • Familiarity with Altru/Blackbaud or similar CRM system

Our interns are at the heart of the museum’s operations. They support and facilitate the visitor experience, lead workshops and field trips, and take ownership of semester-long projects. VOLUNTEER

Join the Children’s Creativity Museum volunteer team! As a volunteer, you’ll go behind the scenes of San Francisco’s 21st-Century arts and technology museum to assist our staff in various departments. Remember, you don’t have to be an expert in art or technology; each of our volunteers has a different background and skill set.

Volunteer positions vary depending on current exhibitions and programs. You can always start out in one position and change when appropriate.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

SUMMER EDUCATION VOLUNTEER

Status: Unpaid volunteer position
Times Available: Wednesday - Sunday, 9:30am - 4:30pm, or 9:30am - 1:30pm, or 12:30pm - 4:30pm
Expected Commitment: Four shifts per month from June 1 - September 1, 2017

Position Description: Spend your summer volunteering at the Children’s Creativity Museum! Make an instant impact in our innovative art and technology museum where you’ll get the opportunity to work with children and families from all backgrounds. The Summer Education Volunteer is responsible for ensuring our visitors are having a rich and meaningful experience while maintaining museum exhibits.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors to each space and explain how to get started
  • Assist and facilitate activities in each of our exhibit areas and check in with visitors for help and support
  • Direct visitors to different exhibit areas
  • Reset and tidy up each space - pick up paper, keep supplies filled and reset stations
  • Alert managers and staff to any immediate needs
  • Learn the basics of stop-motion animation, robot coding, music studio softward, and the process of innovating

EARLY CHILDHOOD VOLUNTEER (long-term)

Status: Unpaid volunteer position
Times Available: Thursdays, 9:30am - 1:30pm or 9:30am - 4:30pm
Expected Commitment: Minimum of four shifts per month for six months starting September 1, 2017

Position Description: The Early Childhood Volunteer is responsible for ensuring our visitors are having a rich and meaningful experience by engaging our visitors and assisting in early childhood programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors in Imagination Lab
  • Assist and facilitate activities in our Imagination lab including Snap-It making, stop-motion animations, DIY art projects, practicing literacy skills while reading to and with children, encouraging puppet play, and more.
  • Help engage visitors during our drop-in early childhood programs
  • Incorporating CCM's educational philosophy and mission into conversations with visitors.
  • Direct visitors to different spaces and inform them of our museum policies.
  • Reset and tidy up each space - pick up paper, keep supplies stocked, and reset stations.
  • Alert managers and staff to any immediate needs.

TEEN EDUCATION VOLUNTEER

Position Description: The Teen Education Volunteer is a high school student who is responsible for ensuring our exhibits (Imagination Lab, Innovation Lab, Tech Lab, Animation Studio, Sketch Town, and Music Studio) run smoothly while creating meaningful experiences with children and families.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors to each space and explain how to get started.
  • Assist and facilitate activities in each of our spaces and check in with visitors for help and support.
  • Direct visitors to different spaces.
  • Reset and tidy up each space - pick up paper, keep supplies filled and reset stations.
  • Alert managers and staff to any immediate needs.
