Field Trip Options

Classic Field Trip

If you’re looking for a more in-depth experience, the Classics offer a 2-hour facilitated session in one of the following studios:

These field trips provide a clear, complete experience from beginning to end: from planning the project, through a collaborative implementation of the plan using state-of-the-art technology tools, to a wrap-up discussion with the group. For teachers who want to integrate classroom curriculum with their project, these field trips are the best option. 

Available Tuesdays only: 9:30-11:30am & 12:15-2:15pm

Creative Combo

In the Creative Combo, students will engage with two of our most popular exhibit spaces –Animation Studio, Music Studio, Innovation Lab or Design Studio. Your students will be encouraged to explore their creative processes while learning stop motion animation skills, producing a music video, working together to solve a design challenge, or taking on media-based challenges in Tynker.

When signing up, you will choose 2 out of our 5 most popular experiences.

Options:

Available Wednesday – Friday: 9:30-11:30am
Duration: Two hours
Grade Level: Grades 3 to 12
Group Size:  Up to 36 students, split into 2 groups
Take away: Clay animation movies emailed to teacher, videos on a DVD, or links to game provided.
Price: $200


Clay Animation: Deluxe

In this two-hour workshop, students will learn basic stop-motion animation and post-production tools. Students will collaborate in small groups to create a short animated film and then move to our Design Studio where each group will add music and sound effects to their movie.

The Clay Animation Deluxe field trip helps students learn the process of creating a short animated film with emphasis on storytelling, animation, and sound design. This two part workshop teaches children how to collaborate on a multi-step project.

Grade Level: Grades 3 to 12

Junior Field Trips

We invite schools, co-ops, and daycare centers that serve children grades pre-school through 2nd grade to participate in our Junior Field Trip Program. Each hour-long workshop offers an introduction to one of our exhibit spaces and includes a creative activity tailored for each grade level. Click here to see all of our Junior Field Trip options.

Available Tuesday – Friday: 9:30-10:30am & 11:00am-12:00pm
Duration: One hour
Group Size: 10-20 students with a 5:1 chaperone ratio

THEATER PERFORMANCE: WHISKERS!

Weekday matinee performances: February 12, 19 and 26.
Whiskers!, a Musical Adaptation of The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams, celebrates the relationships that develop within a found family of mischievous toys. Follow Rabbit’s universal quest to become “REAL” through humor, song and this classic story adapted by composer/lyricist, Caroline Altman, as told from the toys’ perspective.
