Papel Picado Workshop

Join Carmen Lomas Garza, internationally acclaimed artist, author and teacher, for this special hands-on workshop to learn about the techniques of creating Papel Picado Banderitas (little paper banners). Popular throughout Mexico and the southwestern United States as decorations for celebrations, Papel Picado Banderitas are colorful creations made by cutting images in tissue paper.
In this workshop participants (ages 6+) will learn how to fold and cut tissue paper to make 3 original designs and then attach them to a string to create a decorative banner for their next celebration.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate with children in this 90-minute workshop. Please note: Children must be ages 6 and up to participate and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
