Field Trip Options

1. Classic Field Trip

If you’re looking for a more in-depth experience, the Classics offer a 2-hour facilitated session in one of the following studios:

These field trips provide a clear, complete experience from beginning to end: from planning the project, through a collaborative implementation of the plan using state-of-the-art technology tools, to a wrap-up discussion with the group. For teachers who want to integrate classroom curriculum with their project, these field trips are the best option. Grades: 3 to 12

Features:

  • Great way to connect curriculum content to an interactive project.
  • More in-depth exploration of a single space/media
  • Students will develop their creativity, collaboration, and visual communication skills.

Available Tuesdays only: 9:30-11:30am & 12:15-2:15pm

2. Creative Combo

In the Creative Combo, students will engage with two of our most popular exhibit spaces – Animation, Music or Design Studios. Guided by our professional Educators and Education Interns, your students will be encouraged to explore their creative process while learning stop motion animation skills, producing a music video or taking on media-based challenges in Photoshop or Scratch. When signing up, you will choose 2 out of our 3 most popular exhibit spaces.

Students take away: Clay animation movies (emailed to teacher), music videos (on DVD), or design files (emailed to teacher)

 


 

3. Clay Animation: Deluxe

In the Clay Animation: Deluxe field trip, students will engage with our Clay Animation Studio and our Design Studio or Innovation Lab. Students learn the basics of stop-motion animation in this project-based workshop. Groups design their own clay characters and then produce a short animated film using multimedia tools. In addition to producing, students will also work on pre- or post-production components of the film including prop building and sound editing.

The animation activity can be adapted to almost any classroom curriculum and provides an engaging learning platform to explore a wide array of topics. For example, students can animate a scene from a play or novel, represent a scene from history, or illustrate a scientific discovery.

Student take away: Clay figures and a clay animation movie on DVD

 


 

4. Junior Field Trips

We invite schools, co-ops, and daycare centers that serve children grades pre-school through 2nd grade to participate in our Junior Field Trip Program. Each hour-long workshop offers an introduction to one of our exhibit spaces and includes a creative activity tailored for each grade level. [more]

Duration: One hour
Group Size: 10-20 students with a 5:1 chaperone ratio
